Zürich Airport, formerly Zürich-Kloten, is the most important airport in Switzerland. It is managed by Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG) and for years has been voted as one of the most popular passenger airports on the European continent.

Location

First in use in 1948, the airport is by the town of Kloten, about 12 km or 8 miles north of downtown Zürich. Motorist can reach the airport on the highway A51 or the national carriageway 4.

There is an undergound airport train staiton at the airport, the "SBB Flughafen Zürich", with its own independent connection to the Swiss railway network. The regional S-Bahn routes S2 and S16 and the tram line 10 that goes to the main station (Glattalbahn) also stop at the airport.

13 regional bus services stop at the airport and link the airport to surrounding towns and cities such as es Glattal, Tösstal, Sihltal, Glattbrugg, Opfikon or Winterthur.
