London is an expensive place and it is important to note if renting a car that congestion charges apply if driving in the city's inner zone. Each vehicle is charged approximately £11 from Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm.
London airports are well connected to central London via public transport. The Piccadilly line from terminals 1, 2 or 3 is the cheapest way to travel from Heathrow Airport. A single ticket costs around £6 and the journey time takes about 30 minutes. The Heathrow Express from terminals 1, 2 and 3 offers a faster alternative. Single tickets cost around £26 and the journey duration is around 15 minutes. Taxis cost around £33 and take about 40 minutes to get to central London. The Gatwick Express is accessible from Gatwick airport South Terminal to Victoria Station and takes around 30 minutes. Single tickets cost approximately £18. Taxis cost around £22.50 each with 4 people sharing and take about an hour to central London. The Stansted Express takes around 45 minutes to Liverpool Street Station and costs £12 while a 60 minute journey via taxi cab costs around £100. The shuttle from Luton Airport to Luton Airport Parkway and a train to St, Pancreas takes around 40 minutes. Single tickets cost around £15. Book a hostel, for about £20 per night. Hotels cost about £40 or more per night. Travelling around London is easy via the underground, trains and buses. A single ticket costs around £5.70, while Travelcards cost around £12 to £15. An Oyster Card gives slight discounts and is available upon paying a £5 refundable deposit.
