Dallas Fort Worth was opened in 1974 and at the time was the largest and most expensive airport in the world. Dallas Fort Worth International airport is between the two cities, Dallas and Fort Worth - hence its name. The airport is located in the suburbs Grapevine, Irving, Euless and Southlake.
At terminals A -E, the TRE shuttles stop during weekdays. Bus 803 will ransport passengers to the DFW Station/Centreport in the south. At the station, the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) serves either Dallas Union Station in downtown Dallas, with connections to the Amtrak Route "Texas Eagle" (Chicago-Los Angeles). In the other direction, the TRE serves the ITC or T & P Station in downtown Fort Worth. From Fort Worth Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC), the Amtrak Route "Texas Eagle" or the "Heartland Flyer" (Fort Worth-Oklahoma City) will take passengers to further destinations. Current timetables are available locally.
Airport shuttles stop regularly at the terminals A-E and the buses 801 - 804 travel north to "North Remote" parking lots. From here the local bus 310 goes to the North Irving Transit Center or south to the "South Remote" parking lots. Then the DART bus 408 will continue to South Irving Station. The "AIRPORTER" also operates a regular service from the parking lots to all the hotels in the downtown area.
Those traveling between Dallas-Forth Worth and Dallas Love Field can use the TRE to Dallas Union Station and then take the bus 39 (DART) at the Convention Center Station which is only 700 m south of the railway station.
