Managua - Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport is the largest and most important airport in the Central American Republic of Nicaragua. It is located in the eastern part of the capital.Flights operated from Managua are mainly mid haul flights to North and Central America, eg to Havana, Miami, Panama City, San Jose, San Salvador or Guatemala City. Within Nicaragua regular flights are operated to Bluefields, Puerto Cabezas, Corn Island, Rosita and San Carlos.

Location
First in use in 1968, the airport is about 11 km or 8 miles east of the capital, on the Panamericana (Carretera Norte). A shuttle bus into the city is currently not available. There are plenty of taxis / rental cars at the airport. Inexpensive, negotiable taxi fares are only available outside the airport grounds on the main road (Panamericana).
