Location
Opened in 1940, the airport is not directly in Lisbon but 4 miles north of downtown Lisbon, in the community of Portela de Savacém, which is on the extension of the highway A12. By car coming from Lisbon take the ring road (2ª Circular / Segunda Circular) and then follow the signs to the airport.
By rail, take trains to Lisbon’s main station Santa Apolónia and then use buses 5,22,44,45,83 or the Aerobus number 91. Unfortunately, there is no direct metro link. From Apolónia station take the metro to Oriente, the last stop on the red Metro line. From here, the airport is accessible via the Avenida de Berlim, about 1 mile long.
