Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is now the third largest airport in terms of passenger numbers in the U.S. state of Florida. Due to the pleasant year round climate and tourism, it is one of the fastest growing airports in the United States and today is already one of the world's 50 most frequented airports.Mainly due to its proximity to Miami International Airport which is only about 40 km further south, Fort Lauderdale has grown continuously since the 90s, as it could be used as an alternative by many charter airlines from Europe.

First opened in 1946, the airport is about 9 km or 5 miles south of downtown Fort Lauderdale in the city of Dania Beach. The terminal is best reached using the U.S. Highway 1, which connects to the Interstate I-595.
Broward County Transit's (BCT) bus number 1 operates a regular service between the airport and Broward Central Terminal in downtown or the Aventura Shopping Mall.
The TRI-Rail train stops regularly at the airport, and also stops at a total of 18 stations on the West Coast, including West Palm Beach Airport and Miami Airport, all timetable details are available locally or online. Alternatively, please take a taxi, limousine or rent a car.
