The flight route connecting the two major Southern cities, Atlanta (ATL) and Orlando (ORL) is one of the busiest routes in the US. Whether you are going for a weekend break-away to be enchanted by Walt Disney's legacy, or whether your intentions are more sober, this route delivers the convenience and comfort which travelers have come to expect. A direct flight arrives at its destination in a flight time of about 1 hour - covering 400 miles. At present three airlines offer flight routes without stopovers: Delta, AirTran and Southwest Airlines.
The above mentioned airlines are the only ones offering nonstop flights and low cost airlines do not operate between Atlanta and Orlando, so the best way to save money on your air ticket would be to take connecting flights. It almost goes without saying that the normal precautions should also be taken: making sure you book far in advance and being willing to travel only with hand luggage, as well as ensuring you compare prices online before booking.
Almost as soon as you land the treasures of Orlando become available to you. A 40 minute bus trip will transport you downtown, where you could visit the world famous Cirque du Soleil or many of the other attractions the city boasts. Taxis and shuttles are of course also readily available, not to mention the direct shuttle straight to Disney World.
