The airport may be reached by road using the main road Zwirki i Wigury, which goes from downtown Warsaw to the airport. There are three car parking areas at the airport including a multi-level parking lot next to the terminal building. There are also MZA buses operated by the municipalities of the city and the bus company Intercity Polski Express, which runs regular direct services to 30 cities in Poland. Buses 175 and 188 and the night bus 611 have a dialy service to Warsaw and stop at the railway station, in the historic city centre and other areas in the centre of Warsaw.

History
In 1927 it was decided to make Okęcie the city’s main airport. From 1934 the airport took over the entire air traffic of the polish air field Mokotowskie (Pole Mokotowskie airfield). More than 50% of Poland’s entire flights are handled at the airport.
