Airport Stuttgart STR

Stuttgart Airport is the largest airport in the southern German federal state Baden-Wuerttemberg. The airport is one of the ten most important airports in Germany and an important hub for the low cost carriers German Wings and Tuifly, which have contributed to the steady growth of the airport in recent years.

Location

Opened in 1936 the airport is about 13 km or 9 miles south of downtown Stuttgart. Motorists can reach the terminal using either the A8/E52 exit "Stuttgart-Flughafen/Messe" or the B27.

S-Bahn lines 2 and 3 operate a service from Stuttgart Airport and the city. The journey takes about 27 minutes. The bus number 122 also serves the airport and (END of Esslingen), as do bus number 828 (RBS Tübingen), the bus "expresso X3" from Pfullingen / Reutlingen, number 809 from Neuenhaus, the bus 74 from Nürtingen and the bus 36 from Neuhausen. Current timetable details are available locally or on the Internet.

A direct rail link (Deutsche Bahn) is currently being planned as part of the transport and urban development project "Stuttgart 21". The journey from Stuttgart's main train station should then take only 8 minutes as opposed to 27 minutes.
