Location
The airport opened officially in 1965 and is about 4 km or 2 miles northwest of downtown San Jose. It may be reached on the Guadalupe Parkway (California State Route 87), which in turn is connected to the U.S. Highway 101 and Interstate 880.
Several buses operated by the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) operate between the airport and various destinations in the area as well as going to downtown San Jose, eg the bus number 10 (VTA Airport Flyer), which stops at both terminals, and travels regularly to the Metro Light Rail Station and to Santa Clara Caltrain station. Both are located in close proximity to the Amtrak Diridon station and the San Jose Transit Center. From the Transit Center the bus route 180 (Airport Flyer Board) goes regularly to Fremont Bart station, from here there is a connection to the Bay Area Rapid Transit network (BART).
