Opened In 1952, the airport is located about 25 km or 15 miles south of the city centre near the town of Gashir Ben, it is easy to reach from Tripoli via its own access road as well as on the highways to Al-Aziziyah and Tarhunah. Transfer from / to Tripoli is provided by taxi, most hotels in the capital also offer a private transfer for their guests.
