Location
The airport is about 15 km or 8 miles north of Freetown, near the city of Lungi. However, since both cities are separated by an ocean, the airport is actually about 160 km or 100 miles by road from Freetown. By bus or taxi the journey will take several hours.

Transfer between Freetown and the airport is possible by air boat (ca.25 min), boat shuttle (ca.35 min) or car ferry (ca.50 min.) Helicopters are also available and take about 15 minutes.
