History
The American low-cost airline Frontier Airlines was originally founded in 1950 in Denver. After a failed takeover in 1986 by the meanwhile bankrupt low-cost airline People Express, the airline formed again and in 1994 began providing low-cost flights under its old name with Boeing 737 aircraft within the United States. At the end of the 1990s the company was one of the first airlines worldwide to change its entire fleet to Airbus aircraft. By means of a well thought out network of routes, which allows most aircraft to return to the hub in Denver in the evenings, the airline has managed to expand in recent years and now also serves destinations outside the United States.
Network
Frontier Airlines’ route network currently includes more than 60 different airports within the United States, 2 in Canada, 8 in Mexico and 1 in Costa Rica. Some of the many destinations in the USA, which will be served from Denver include Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville, Orlando, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Outside the United States, airports include for example Calgary, Cancun, Guadalajara and San Jose.
