Irish airline CityJet began operations between London City Airport and Dublin in January 1994 under a franchise licence with British Airline, Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. Today the airline, based at Dublin Airport, is a 100% owned subsidiary of Air France and employs over 500 staff in both its Dublin base and at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. As the Irish partner of Air France, CityJet operates a fleet of 16 BAe 146 series aircraft making CityJet a specialist in short runway regional operations. Carrying 1 million passengers per year and with 85% of its Network Operations from the French Capital, CityJet operates 6 franchise routes on behalf of Air France between Paris CDG and Dublin, London City, Edinburgh, Gothenburg, Zurich and Florence, wet lease operations and a code share service from Dublin to Malaga and London City. CityJet also provide an Aircraft and Crew service to Air France and their network Partners across a wide range of medium haul routes. This type of contract is recognition of CityJet's unique characteristic of adaptability and its commitment to provide for our customer and shareholder a consistent service across its medium haul network.
