History
The Afghan national airline Ariana Afghan Airlines was founded on 27th January 1955 in Kabul. All international flights were discontinued in 1996 when the Taliban seized power. After the regime lost power in late 2001, the airline again took up normal operations.
Network
Ariana’s network of routes is currently (November 2007) being built up. Currently, the airline only operates flights from Kabul to Delhi, Dubai, Istanbul, Moscow and Kandahar. The existing routes will probably soon be extended to include the destinations Ankara, Dushanbe, Islamabad, Tehran and Urumqi.
