Tehran-Imam Khomeini International Airport is the largest and most important airport in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Opened in 2004, the airport is about 42 km or 26 miles southwest of downtown, directly between highway # 7 from Tehran to Saveh and highway # 9 from Tehran to Qom. A shuttle bus to Tehran is currently not available, but there are many taxis at the airport.
