Location
Melbourne Airport is on the Tullamarine Freeway. There is also the possibility of reaching the airport by Skybus from Melbourne's CBD. From the Southern Cross Station the journey takes about 20 minutes. Buses depart from the terminals to many areas in Melbourne.
Opened on 01.07.1970, Melbourne airport was built to replace the old Essendon Airport which was no longer able to deal with the larger machines in the 60s. Today it is Melbourne’s second busiest airport after Kingsford Smith International Airport in Sydney.
