Meridian was originally established as Alisarda in 1963 in order to encourage the tourist industry on the Emerald Coast of Sicily. The name was changed to Meridiana in 1991. The airline has a fleet of 22 planes and now offers a flight from New York to Italy: Palermo, Naples and Rome.
