New York, with its famous Empire State Building, is a lively city with the crowded Manhattan Island in the center, and bustling downtown of financial and cultural activities, surrounded by the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers and the Harbour.

New York is a fantastic city all year round. Be aware that summers are hot, but it can get very cold in winter. For visiting at holiday or festival time, the New Year's Eve celebrations are legendary. The colorful Chinese New Year takes place in February. Another colorful festival is St. Patrick's Day with a parade and events. Don't forget to wear green and a shamrock! For the fashion-conscious, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week takes place in February and September.

To get from JFK Airport to Mid or Downtown Manhattan, take the AirTrain to Howard Beach subway station and change there. The journey takes about 40-75 minutes. Or take the bus to the subway or the Long Island Rail Road. Express buses go straight to Long Island, Manhattan or Hudson Valley. A taxi to Manhattan costs around $52. From Newark Liberty Airport the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Corridor Lines get you to New York City in approximately 30 minutes. There's a bus from Newark to New York City, also taking about 30 minutes. From LaGuardia Airport to Manhattan take the M60 bus.
