Description: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the largest airport in the State of Washington and also one of the largest in the United States. It serves the two cities Seattle and Tacoma, often called "SeaTac" by the local inhabitants.
Location: The airport is located about 12 miles south of downtown Seattle and is about 2 miles west of the Interstate 5. Passengers arriving by car can access the airport on the Interstate 5, taking exit # 152 and then following the signs for the airport on S. 188th Street. Alternatively follow the I-5 to exit # 151 or take the State Road 518 to the exit for International Boulevard.

Rail passengers take Amtrak trains to Seattle - King Street Station and then change for the buses # 174 or # 194 operated by Metro Transit

In the greater city area of Seattle, the public transport operators King County’s Metro Transit provides several bus services that all stop at the airport, these include the bus numbers # 140, 174, 180, 194, 560 and 574. There are also various daily rail and bus links operated by Sound Transit serving the metropolitan area and the suburbs of Seattle, for example from Redmond, Lakewood, Auburn, Tacoma and Gig Harbor.
History: The airport is located south of downtown Seattle and was established and inaugurated for civil aviation as early as 1944. After Northwest Airlines operated its first trans Pacific flights to Japan in 1949, the word "International" was added to the name.
Destinations: The airport has a large central building with 4 departure areas and 2 additional "satellite terminals, one at the southern end and one at the north end. These can be reached using a so-called "people mover", a fully automatic passenger rail transport system for short journeys.

From Concourse A (Gates A1 - A14) regular scheduled flights are operated by American Airlines to Austin, Chicago, Dallas, New York and St. Louis; AirTran Airways to Atlanta, Baltimore and Milwaukee; Delta Air Lines to Atlanta, Cincinnati, NY - JFK and Salt Lake City; Frontier Airlines to Denver, JetBlue Airways to Boston, Long Beach, NY-JFK and San Diego; Midwest Airlines to Kansas and Milwaukee; Sun Country Airlines to Minneapolis; US Airways to Charlotte, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and Phoenix and Virgin America to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Flying regularly from Concourse B (Gates B1 - B15) is Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, which also has its main hub at the airport, flying for example to Bellingham, Calgary, Eugene, Fresno, Kalispell, Lewiston, Portland, Redmond, Sacramento, Vancouver, Walla Walla and Yakima; Continental Airlines to Anchorage, Cleveland, Houston and Newark; Hawaiian Airlines to Honululu and Kahului and Southwest Airlines, for example to Alburquerque, Denver, Las Vegas, Oakland, San Jose and Spokane.

The areas Concourse C and D (Gates C1 - C20; Gates D1 - D12) are currently reserved for Alaska Airlines and its subsidiary Horizon.

Flying regularly from the Northern Satellite Terminal are Air Canada to Toronto-Pearson, Calgary and Vancouver and United Airlines to Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, Spokane, Tokyo-Narita and Washington-Dulles.

From the Southern Satellite Terminal regular flights are operated by Aeromexico to Mexico City, Air France to Paris-CDG, Asiana Airlines and Korean Air to Seoul, British Airways to London Heathrow, the China Airlines and EVA Air to Taipei, Lufthansa to Frankfurt, Northwest Airlines to Amsterdam, Detroit, Honululu, Kahului, Kona, Memphis, Minneapolis and Tokyo-Narita and the Scandinavian Airlines to Copenhagen.
