Portland International Airport is the largest airport in the US state of Oregon and takes on 90% of passenger transport in this region. It is 4 miles north east of Portland near Columbia River, 20 minutes by car from the business and artists districts in downtown Portland. These may also be reached using the Red Line of the city train MAX.

By car the airport may be reached using the Interstate I-5 from Portland to the I-84, then changing to the I-205 and then the Airport Way towards the west in order to reach the airport.

History:

Portland International airport was opened in 1940 and is one of the 30 largest airports in the US and main hub of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. There are connections from the airport to all the main hubs in the U.S.A. along with direct flights to Canada, Mexico, Japan and Germany. Portland Airport is also a hub for flights to smaller cities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, California and Nevada.
