Orlando Sanford International Airport is in the second most important airport in Orange County, Florida after Orlando Airport. Due to the large number of flying schools, the airport one of the 30 busiest airports in the world. The airport is administered by the English management group TBI plc, also responsible for managing other airports in Bolivia, Great Britain and Sweden. The airport is served primarily by English charter and scheduled airlines. Allegiant Air, based in Las Vegas, also has an important hub in Sanford.

The airport is situated directly on the eastern periphery of Sanford. Motorists should take the Central Florida Greenway (State-Route 417) from Sanford to exit #50 and then follow the sings to the airport on E. Airport Boulevard.
Rail passengers take trains to Sanford Amtrak Station and then proceed by taxi to the airport, which is less than 2 miles from here. Alternatively catch the number 33 bus operated by the local transport company LYNX from 25th street, which is 1000 yards from here.

The airport is served by a number of English charter and scheduled airlines. Flyglobespan, First Choice, Monarch Airlines, MyTravel Airways, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomsonfly and Travel City Direct operate regular flights for example from Glasgow, Manchester, London-Gatwick, Birmingham, Cardiff or Belfast. Icelandair is also represented at the airport, offering flights to a number of European destinations from Sanford via Reykjavik.
