John Wayne International Airport has one of the shortest runways of any airport in the USA. It is near Anaheim, in the vicinity of a Disneyland Resort, giving it an advantage over the distant Los Angeles International Airport.

John Wayne Airport may be reached via the Interstate I-405 (San Diego Freeway), the State Route SR-55 (Costa Mesa Freeway) and the State Route SR-73 (Corona Del Mar Freeway/San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Toll Road). The exit normally used is that to the MacArthur Boulevard, where motorists should drive on the right hand lane in order to access John Wayne Airport. To reach the Thomas F. Riley Terminal and the parking at the terminal, turn to the right onto Terminal Roadway. To the car park on Main Street, located behind Sky Park Circle on the left side, turn left onto Main Street.
The Ground Transportation Center (GTC) is on the lower arrivals level opposite the Thomas F. Riley Terminal in the centre of the eastern parking and has connections to the airport bus and diverse shuttle services. The Orange County Transportation Authority bus stop is south of the GTC at the side of the terminal.
