John F. Kennedy International Airport is an international airport found in the south-eastern part of New York City in Jamaica, Queens. JFK airport, situated 15 miles east of New York City on Jamaica Bay, was opened on 31 July 1948 and is today at the fore of international passenger airports in the United States.
John-F.-Kennedy-Airport New York is the main airport in New York City and one of the biggest in the world. Behind Chicago it is the busiest airport in the United States. John F. Kennedy Airport is home airport to JetBlue Airways, international hub and fourth largest hub of Delta Air Lines, and the second largest hub of American Airlines or A&A.

Building work on the AirTrain JFK high-speed rail system was started in 1998 and completed in December 2003. Now links exist via the rail network from every terminal to the New York City Subway as well as regional services in Howard Beach and Jamaica. AirTrain stops at all terminals along with 2 stations on the subway. There is also the New York Airport Service Express Bus and several city bus routes running to stations on the New York City Subway and the Long Island Rail Road. It is also possible to use the taxi services, the famous New York City Cabs, or to continue the journey using the US Helicopter service from Downtown Manhattan Heliport.
Arriving from the north, the airport is accessible from the Interstate I-678 direction south over the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge. From there, the Van Wyck Expressway may be accessed which goes directly to the airport. From the east, take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) in a westerly direction to the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678 south), and from the south and the west take the Linden Boulevard (NY 27) to the Nassau Expressway, which also goes directly to the airport.

John-F.-Kennedy Airport is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey which also operates the 3 other main airports in the New York Metropolitan Area: Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Teterboro Airport. Commercial flights have been in operation since 1st July 1948. The official inauguration under the name of New York International Airport took place on 31.07.1948. On 24.12.1963, the airport’s name was changed to John F. Kennedy International Airport after a decision by the mayor, the senate of the city of New York, and the airport operator.
