Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport is an airport in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the home airport of Northwest Airlines, one of the major U.S. airlines, which covers about 70% of the total traffic volume. The operator is the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), who also manage six other smaller airports in the region.

The Minnesota State Highway 5 in St. Paul is the closest to the Lindbergh Terminal, near the Interstate 494 and Highway 55. The Humphrey terminal can be reached via the exit of the I-494 to 34th Avenue which passes the Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Since the Northwest Airlines has had its hangar on the I-494 and 34th Avenue, passers by may see the maintenance work on the aircraft.
Besides the free shuttle services between the two terminals the airport is connected to many other local public transport services. Most of the connections leave from the hub building and the adjacent Transit Center, which provides city and shuttle buses as well as light rail stations and taxi stands. There are two streetcar lines directly at the airport, which serve both terminals from downtown Minneapolis in the north and the "Mall of America” in Bloomington in the south. From the Ground Transportation Atrium, one floor above the streetcar level, passengers have direct access to all shuttle buses, the Metro Transit buses (including the line 54) as well as taxis and limousines.

Minneapolis Airport is located 10 miles from the city and 6 miles from Minneapolis. It is the largest and busiest airport in the Five-State Upper Midwestern region of Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. In 2005 Minneapolis airport was the tenth largest airport in the US in terms of passenger volume and ranks 19th worldwide.
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is not part of a city but is in the midst of several cities; besides Minneapolis and St. Paul also the suburbs Bloomington, Eagan, Mendota Heights and Richfield. It has 2 terminals, the Lindbergh Terminal (named after the aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh) and the smaller Humphrey Terminal (named after the former U.S. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey).
