Memphis International Airport is the largest and most important airport in the State of Tennessee. It is in the capital of Shelby County, Memphis.

The airport is located 3 miles south of downtown Memphis. Car drivers may reach the airport on the Interstate 240 and leave at exit # 23a + b. Then follow the sings to the parking on the Airport Boulevard.
Rail passengers take the "City of New Orleans" Amtrak route to Memphis Amtrak Rail Station and then from the nearby North End Terminal either catch bus number 2 or 20 operated by the local transport company MATA

History:

The airport was established on 15.06.1929 as Memphis Municipal Airport before being renamed into Memphis international in 1969. Among the first airlines to provide flights from the airport were American Airlines and Chicago & Southern Airlines. Today, Northwest Airlines has its third hub here and serves many destinations in North America.
