Description: Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the airport in the city of Charlotte in North Carolina. It is about 10 km west of the city and was named after the former mayor of Charlotte, Ben Elbert Douglas, Sr. Charlotte airport is the main hub of the American airline US Airways for domestic as well as international flights. It was founded in 1935 as Charlotte Municipal Airport, before being renamed Douglas Municipal Airport in 1954. It was given its present name, Charlotte airport, in 1982.
